Bart, Hurray!!
Caught in a Flash
Cyril and I drove out to Menlo Park this morning at 7am. I love those full sleeps, you wake up the next morning in the same perfect position that got you to sleep in the first place. Last night definately wasn't one, every hour thinking it was time go again!
The americorp house is in the perfect place, right as you get off the Dumbarton. I brought down with me two bags of cloths, a backpack full of stuff, my craft kit, and bicycle. I just hope it's enough to put me over for the next year. Actually I still expect I'll need to go back for a few more things.
It was nice getting to meet my one roomate so far, Erin, and the other people we will be working with this next year from habitat. The house is very cute, but still a major work in progress. We've got this huge backyard. That's something I'm not used to. It's mostly dead and overgrown, but they have these crumpled rose bushes I hope will be beautiful for next year. At the very back there is this crooked fence that leads to this huge dirt field with trenches and tractors. Beyond this there is the railroads, but no trains yet. So far I'm not sure who the other people will be moving in. It's nice to see how willing to help everyone was getting us situated, and I'm very excited for next week and beginning training.
Afterward I stumbled my way around town getting lost first, before starting to figure my way about. It's hard not having the hills and Campanile to navigate by anymore. I passed by Flood Park along the way to visit the construction site where I will be working. It was so pretty riding down tree covered streets filling my nostrils with bay leaves. I met Dawn, my supervisor and project manager for the project site. We visited one of the more completed homes. I can't believe I will be working on my very own!
I've just started to realize how hot it is here in Redwood City. I'm so soft after living in Berkeley and having my nice cool misty mornings. After being on the site for an hour I was completely soaked. A hard working construction worker, soon this will be me in a hard cap, boots, and jeans.
Before leaving Menlo Park I took the Bayfront Freeway across the railroad tracks over to Bayfront Park with huge golden hills and series of trails. From here you can see the white salt ponds of Cargill Salt Refinery in Menlo Park. It's nice to know it won't be too far to make lots more visits.

Last Week of Summer

It's such a strange feeling to be graduated. Just as I finally convinced myself that it would never end. For all my friends I got to see this week and spending quality time with cousins and sister at Yogurt Park, it was really nice. I'm so exhausted right now. I've been getting the small things ready for my move tomorrow. Not hard work since the house is already furnished, but I did get a chance to really organize my locker for the first time after having moved it all in almost two months ago. It really is crazy to see the accumulation of my life all crambed into a 5by4 foot storage unit. Kind of scary! I'm hoping that after a year of seperation once I come back I'll see the things I can go without, because right now I'm still way too attached.

I'm so hot right now. I'm not sure if it's because I'm nervous or excited. I still don't know who my housemates are. I find that out tomorrow. I have to keep reminding myself not to get too anxious. Alright I better get some sleep now and stop thinking, or I really won't get any.

Good night

Sorry for the extreme blankness as of this point. I'm excited for the next couple weeks and not quite knowing what to expect. Keep checking back for more to come soon!
