Worked with some great groups this week. Did a little bit of overhead soffet work. No matter how easy it might seem to place a board up and hammer it in, there always seems to be something to get in the way. Soffet cut a little too long, nails sticking out behind, and hammering into hard to get gable corners. I think it's fair to say we all had at least a little sore necks by the end. Later in the week we did a little bit of painting too. I'm happy to say I now have added some pretty blue to the collection of stains on my working pants.
This week we spent some time working at the San Francisco site to get ready for this weeks mega crew. The view from Bayview was amazing out towards the city, and across the Bay Bridge out towards Berkeley, mmm-hmmm! The I just wished I could shoot out across the bay with the Campanile standing tall. It was nice though since we could visit San Francisco after work. We went to the the crazy leaning cube museum designed by Libeskind where we saw the Jewish collection "Ten Genius" by Andy Warhol.
This Saturday was a lot of fun with the crew from the American Bankers Assocation. We had tons of volunteers, I was almost afraid there might be too many. I met lots of great people and I'm happy to say that everything went well, and we got lots done. The morning was cold and the fog never quite went away, but by the end of the day we completed ten walls! It's amazing to think once the walls are built on the ground, all we have to do is put them together and we've got a house! I'm glad that I've learned framing finally, well I'm still figuring it out. But it's nice to know how to put walls together. Now I can feel a little more like the handy person I've always wanted to be.
